Affliction Metal Night at The Observatory

Affliction Metal Night at The Observatory

Last weekend the Affliction team headed to The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA to crack a few beers and head bang to some bone rattling metal at the first ever Affliction Metal Night!

Hosted by Affliction’s own Jose Mangin of Sirius XM, we kicked the night off with a hashtag contest on Twitter and Instagram. Throughout the night, a few lucky fans got hooked up with free Affliction gear and a custom Ibanez guitar signed by the all the bands that played; perfect for the true metal aficionado.

Born of Osirus rocked it with an awesome set, along with Dead Letter Circus from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.  As the lights came down, Twelve Foot Ninja hit the stage like silent assassins~

As the fog began to roll out and the lights began to illuminate the stage, vocalist Kin and the group brought the circle pit to life, barreling right into their first song with a driving tempo and raw energy you could feel circulating throughout the crowd. We were stoked to hear some of our favorites by the band like, “Mother Sky” and “Coming For You”.  After their set wrapped, our man Jose took the stage to hand out Affliction gear to a few lucky Instagram and Twitter followers who were hashtagging #AfflictionMetalNight like crazy.

Periphery played a sick set and rocked the house. These guys are from Bethesda, Maryland, and if you haven’t checked them out yet take a listen here:
After the first song everyone completely shifted from the bar to the stage…Periphery was ready to rock Affliction Metal Night~

The set had a few songs from their albums “Scarlet” and “Make Total Destroy”- both of which we have here at Affliction for Metal Mondays at the office. (we use the term ‘office’ loosely).  Hearing the songs from our favorite albums live and in person was an awesome experience that we were stoked to share with everyone who came out for Metal Night.  Now the only question is, “How soon before the next metal night?”.

After Periphery’s set we made our way backstage to hang with the guys and to give away a signed Ibanez guitar with Floyd Rose Tremolo, signed by all the bands at Metal Night. It was a close call with so many great Tweets and Instagram posts from fans at the show, but only one person could leave with the official Affliction Metal Night guitar.

We appreciate people who challenge the odds and rise up in the face of competition.  The final winner of the guitar, despite the number of people competing to win, put out the most Tweets and sacrificed himself to the mosh pit in hopes of capturing a shot of his favorite bands.  Now that is a true metal fan!

Stay tuned to Facebook where we will announce the date for the next Affliction Metal Night at The Observatory. Need your metal fix sooner? We’ve got you covered!
